Uses & Indications
Piriton Syrup is used to relieve:

Allergy symptoms: hay fever, urticaria (hives), angioneurotic edema, food, insect bite, or drug allergies

Itchy rashes and the itch associated with chickenpox

Also effective for allergic rhinitis, skin allergies, and relief in vasomotor rhinitis
Dosage Guidelines

| Children 1–2 years | 2.5 ml (1 mg) twice daily | 5 ml (2 mg) |
Minimum interval between doses: 4 hours. Not recommended for infants under 12 months.
Side Effects & Precautions

Common: drowsiness, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, blurred vision, fatigue

Less common: confusion, coordination issues, low blood pressure, anticholinergic effects—especially in the elderly

Warnings:

Contains sucrose and ethanol—exercise caution for diabetics or those with alcoholism

Avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsy

Use lower doses for elderly patients due to increased neurological sensitivity

Piriton is a first-generation H₁ antihistamine that blocks histamine receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms. Its effects typically begin within 30 minutes and can last 4–6 hours
