Description

Active Ingredients & Formulation

• Each 5 ml of Brustan contains:

  • Ibuprofen 100 mg — a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory effects

  • Paracetamol 125 mg — a widely used pain reliever and fever reducer

Mechanism of Action & Benefits

• Paracetamol works centrally in the brain to reduce fever and relieve pain.

• Ibuprofen inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes peripherally to reduce inflammation, pain, and fever

• Combined, they offer enhanced symptom relief across a broad range of conditions including fever, aches, inflammation, and flu-like symptoms.

Indications

This suspension is used to relieve:

• Headaches, toothaches, muscular aches, joint pain, back pain

• Fever

• Sore throat

• Post-immunization pain

• Cold and flu symptoms, including body aches

Dosage & Administration

• Children (weight-based dosing):

  • Generally dosed using 5–10 mg/kg of ibuprofen every 6–8 hours as needed—not exceeding 40 mg/kg/day

  • Example: A 10 kg child may receive 2.5–5 ml per dose (up to 4 times daily).

• Adults:

  • Typical adult dosage information from generalized sources (not brand-specific) suggests up to 3000 mg paracetamol and 900 mg ibuprofen daily, divided doses every 6 hours, after food with water

• Always shake well before use and use an accurate measuring device.

Precautions & Contraindications

• Contraindications:

  • Allergy to NSAIDs or paracetamol.

  • History of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers.

  • Severe kidney or liver impairment

• Cautions:

  • Avoid with other paracetamol-containing products to prevent overdose.

  • Use cautiously in asthma, cardiovascular disease, or gastrointestinal disorders.

  • Not recommended for young children unless prescribed by a healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects

• Ibuprofen may cause gastrointestinal upset, fatigue, dizziness, or elevated liver enzymes at high doses

• Paracetamol is generally well tolerated at recommended doses but overdosing may cause liver damage.
